1956 Shasta Trailer – We purchased this trailer in 2015 and it was in rough shape. What started as a hobby for me to take my 3 girls camping turned into a year long restoration project that required us to rebuild the entire trailer from the frame up. We built new walls, insulated and added vapor barrier and then put on a new skin on the sides. The roof is original as well as all windows, frames and most of the interior cabinets and hardware is original. The dinette need to be replaced, so it was built to Shasta dimensions. The gas range and ice box were repaired/painted and new countertops and backsplash installed.
We did add a 25 gallon water tank and pump for dirty camping and all new wiring and breaker box. We replaced the light fixtures with replica and original fixtures.
The mattress was custom made and the cushions on the banquet seating were hand sewn with new foam cushions and fabric. We also have the original hammock poles and added new fabric so it is in working shape, but mainly used it as gear storage on trips.
The tires were replaced in 2016 and the exterior is as close to original as possible. The paint was custom with red and white with the Shasta Z and the trailer is registered in California with current tags.
