If you missed part 1 of this blog series you can see it HERE. All the work you see done here was done at Vintage Trailer Restoration in Burton, MI Oh and just a little tip before I go on; if you take your trailer to a shop for repairs, remove all of your cushions and décor items from inside the trailer first. Leave those items stored at home. The reason is it will … [Read more...]
1963 Yellowstone Renovation & Restoration Part 1
I'm going to break this post up in few parts because there are so many photos and information to share. So this is part one. Before we get into the details I had someone ask me why I call this a renovation and a restoration? I feel like the work that has been done to it puts it in a space in between both renovation and restoration. While it's not a ground up … [Read more...]
Featured Trailer; 1952 Vagabond
This stunning 1952 Vagabond is owned by Sandy Mastin and Steve Brown. I had the pleasure of touring it during the rally at PJ Hoffmaster State Park. Talk about stepping back in time!! This is truly a stunning example of a trailer of that era. Would you like to see your vintage trailer featured on LVT? If so, send us information and photos via our submission … [Read more...]
Hi-Lo Renovation Day 7, 8 and 9
Whew, it's been awhile since I posted on how the renovation is going on the 1961 Hi-Lo, so I figured I better get a post up here to show you where I'm at. I decided to clump together day 7, 8 and 9 because basically day 7-8 were just boring mundane stuff. Keep in mind that these days aren't concurrent. It was one day here...another day there. A lot of times it just … [Read more...]
Hi-Lo Renovation Day 5
I spent about 9 hours working on the Hi-Lo yesterday. I was fortunate to have a couple helpers to help with the heavy lifting as it takes more than one person to lift and maneuver those 2 x 4's that are holding it up. I got quite a bit done and was able to finish repairing the wood on the lower 4 inches on the walls which wasn't too difficult. The hard part was … [Read more...]
Hi-Lo Renovation Day 3 & 4
So I'm back to working on the Hi-Lo this weekend. I had to take a pause and call in a restoration guy to come out and give me some advice before proceeding. So this is where we are at to date. The first thing I had to do is raise the roof {meaning the entire top half of the trailer} in order to be able to replace the seal. Let me just say that raising the top half … [Read more...]

Keeping Your Camper Documents Organized
I don't know if you are like me but I am the kind of person that needs to be organized or I'd be in completely chaos. For me there is nothing more frustrating than needing to find something only to discover I can't recall where I put it. So of course I needed to find a way to keep all of my vintage trailer documents and records organized all in one place. Liz … [Read more...]
How to improve the look of water stained birch
OK, so with most vintage trailers water staining under the front and rear windows is pretty typical. You will also commonly find it around the roof vent. Our 55 Bellwood is no exception to this. Now while the staining under the windows wasn't all that bad (I've seen much worse trust me), the proper way to fix the issue is by tearing out the offending panel of birch, … [Read more...]
