1952 Southland Runabout By Mathison Aircraft
I have owned this Recreation Vehicle (RV) for 22 years, and it had just one owner before us. It has been taken to a couple of antique trailer shows to show it off but mainly we have used it for camping during the last 20 years. We purchased it because we were tired of sleeping on the ground in a tent and have enjoyed it on many trips. The RV was repainted in 2000 and was painted gold and red. The paint shows wear after 20 years but it is still in very good shape. The trailer can sleep 4, one in the front from the fold-down table and two twin beds in the rear, with a hammock above the two beds for a small child. You can also convert the 2 twin beds to a double bed and it is very comfortable. The trailer is 17 feet long plus 32” for the tongue has an overall length of 19.5 feet long. Also included is an awning with frame and canvas cover that is still in good shape. Included is 10 gallon tank for waste water from the kitchen sink; there is no drinking water tank but I will include the container we use for fresh water—it sits on a cabinet and has a faucet. As you can see from the pictures this beautiful classic has been an enjoyable trailer for our family. The RV has been kept under cover during the last 20 years. It tows effortlessly behind our Honda Odyssey which has sway bars for 2” ball and electric brakes. Part of the value is the original cabinets, wood interior, original electric refrigerator (still works) and propane stove. Buyers are encouraged to personally inspect this RV by appointment only. The Honda Odyssey is not included with this sale but make me an offer and I will consider it. Included are many kitchen utensils such as pots, pans, coffee pot, linens, plates and tableware etc.. There is a 15 ampelectrical outlet on the outside for campground power. Also included is a spare tire, jack, propane tank, wheel chocks, screen door and levelers for RV. Once we took the RV camping to the snow in a RV campground and used an electric floor heater. It worked very well providing heat.
There is no toilet or shower. There is no space heater but the propane light has been used many times for heat and provides plenty of warmth for this small RV before we retire for bed. Circumstances have prevented us from using it recently, and we want you to enjoy it as we have through the years.
The screen door is in very good condition. I rebuilt it several years ago. The front door locks very well but you have to pull it tight to close completely.
Electrical- There are no batteries, never was wired for batteries. There is a fuse box with the old stylescrew in fuses, a porch light, interior lights and plugs for appliances. You can add air conditioning but there is none in this old trailer. The 10 gallon tank is just for kitchen sink waste, nothing fancy.
I have a 2000 Honda odyssey that can be purchased and it is wired to the trailer including electric brakes, trailer hitch and air shocks. 199,000 miles and includes $800 worth of towing accessories such as oversized transmission oil cooler, trailer hitch, electric brakes for trailer and air bags for shocks.
I weighed the trailer empty once at 2900#. The tires were replaced around 2 years ago and are in excellent condition. Considering it is 68 years old it is in very good condition. I would be glad to show the trailer.

Water Stains- I have old and minor water stains, you really should see my trailer before purchase. One location that I know of is under the window near the twin beds. The trailer has been under shelter for the last 20 years when I am not traveling.
7-pin RV plug- This trailer has electric brakes with a 7-pin RV plug. I also have a 4 pin adaptor plug that can plug into the 7 pin but will need wiring changes. Buyer will need to adapt to this plug or modify the wiring if a different plug is required. I may be able to help with this.
