Make your own post card magnets

Since my little fridge is stark white I decided it needed a little color. There were several options floating around in my head such as; paint the door, decoupage the door or add magnets. I figured I would take the safer route and add some magnets (:

Making magnets from postcards couldn’t be easier! All you need is your favorite post cards or you could even use little ACEO’s (small artist paintings). Next you need a flat sheet of magnet. You can find this at craft supply stores. Cut small pieces of the magnet into squares. Take a hot glue gun and add the magnet to the back of the post card. If the post card is larger you can add two pieces of magnet. Viola! You now have post card magnets that you can put on your fridge. You could take it a step further if you wanted and laminate your postcards first.

P.S. Don’t limit yourself to just post cards! As you can see I grabbed a couple red monkey game pieces and turned them into magnets. The possibilities are endless.

  1. Very Cute….and at least this way your not stuck with one design…And you can even change it up with the seasons… : )

  2. could you paint a very thin piece of tin and put the magnets on the back and have the turquoise door you wanted?

  3. Great idea!

  4. Vintage Green, I bet that would work. You would probably need some pretty strong magnets to hold it there but it would look great!
