OK, so I’ve sort of kicked around a few ideas for curtains for the 55 Bellwood including novelty fabric and vintage hanky’s. What I finally decided on is to use various vintage feed and grain sacks. I wasn’t sure how these would look but after sewing up a couple I am actually quite digging them. They are unique and pretty neat looking. I actually don’t even mind the stains that are here and there on the sacks. I suppose it gives them a more authentic look.
Here is what they look like. Keep in mind these are hung on a rod in my house and not in the trailer just yet. I only have enough feedsacks to make 5 panels and I need enough to make 10. So the search is on to find more of them. Because I don’t have enough to do all the windows yet, this project may take awhile to complete (:
Once I get them all done I’ll show you all what they look like hung in the camper.
What a great idea! I’v been trying to decide on curtain fabric for my little 10′ 1962 Cardinal. So far I’ve bought 10 (!)yards of fabric trying to decide! ( 5 yards of two different patterns). My problem is I have pretty bold stripes on the cushions and I’m afraid of getting too overwhelming with color! I don’t have the cushions back from the upholster yet so I’m not sure how they’ll look! Decisions, decisions! Fun!
What an awesome idea! I love it. That is going to look absolutely adorable.
They look great! I have a couple that I can send you. They’re not quite as vivid, but still cute with Robin Hood on them in green/pink colors. Just e me if you think they might work.
Thank you Beth! What a sweet offer. I think I have enough now to finish this project but thank you so much for the offer.
I love these, I am building a log cabin and should be moving in by the end of Aug. I would love a set of these curtain for the window above my sink. So would you consider making a set and selling them to me? I tried sewing in the past and everyone that knew me said to please stop it was so bad. So let me know what you think, and I am county so a few stains tells a story. Lol
This is cool!! I like it because that’s what I have in my trailer!!! But mine are the sacks I found of Canton tx. They are vintage charcoal bags, brand new… The bags would be easier to hang!! I had to use Velcro to hang mine.. I glued black vintage leave on the bottom of mine…
How can I get, that kind of feed sack?
Is there anyone or some store who sell them?
I’m from Indonesia
Thank u very much of ur kind, if u would answer my curiosity
Isn’t there a way to copy your favorites and then print them on similar fabric?
