You can never have enough posts about trailer cushions right?? Here are some cushions I did awhile back but forgot to publish this post {oops}. So I’m publishing it now so you all can see how they turned out.
These cushions are from a 65 Frolic. They are actually in very good shape. Almost like new in fact, with a nice quality fabric and zippers. Someone had them professionally recovered at some point. However, they are the wrong color. They are like a lavender color. So I decided to recover them.
Some of you may remember the post about The Cheaters Way to Recover Cushions Being the busy person that I am, that is the method I chose. Yeah, it’s a cheat for sure but you know, life is short and I don’t want to spend hours and hours of it sewing cushions. I’d rather be out camping instead 🙂
Here are the results.
Easy-Peezy and Melly the Pug approves.
The dinette cushions “Before”.
The dinette cushions “After”.
I’ve decided to not recover the rear cushions because that will end up being a permanent bed. This photo below shows you the lavendar color a bit better. I went with aqua of course to match the appliances.
Are you working on any trailer projects at the moment? Comment below and share what you are working on.
nice job! I used sparkly glitter fuschsia on my glamper cushions. I saw it on youtube . what I did was cut plywood to size of bench, put foam on, put cotton batting on it and softened corners with it, and then stapled it with heavy staples. I used vinyl
I neglected to say after cotton banting I put vinyl over it and then stapled. left out that step
I love your post. We are semi-re-doing a 5th wheel and I have painted walls, re did the cornices and made curtains for the bedroom. Im trying to get up enough nerve to try roman shades for the living area. AND I have to redo the dinette cushions. Oh and I used Smart Tiles in the kitchen area. I don’t know why companies use such dark yuky colors. So much to do. I’m covering the couch with drop cloth and stapling it on. Can’t afford to have it re upholstered, it would be cheaper just to buy a new one.
I have a 63 little gem that blew apart gong down the road. It sat for two years while I searched for someone talented (crazy) enough to put her back together. Finally found him!
Here’s one for ya…! I bought a used 91 Shadow Cruiser 5th Wheel Trailer 21 feet long. Great condition except for the axles, I have to replace them… What really got my goat..? The original interior cabinets were all done in Oak wood Vinyl/Veneer vacuumed (process) onto thin Plywood. Someone (previous Owners) painted over all the Oak Wood work with light green Latex Paint. They even painted over all the hardware..! (Hinges, catches, screws, knobs, handles) what a %$&* mess…!
I tried every product on the market to remove the Latex paint and restore the Oak Wood work, guess what..? Nothing worked..! I was sick..! I mean I saw photo’s of the Interior on the Internet, it was beautiful inside..! Before it was painted..! Who would do such a thing..? My only alternative was either re-paint or Wallpaper… I chose the Wallpaper. I bought two double-rolls of a Rustic wide Plank barn board with a multitude of various earth colors in the design…(blacks, whites, grays, ambers, w/wood grains, nail holes, worm holes etc. I took me all winter but it’s done and I love it…! Of course I could not Wallpaper the cabinets doors so I color-match some paint and painted them, cleaned all the hardware and after many hours it really does look nice, much better than that sick light green paint everywhere…!
Now I’m looking at re-covering my Dinette Cushions/Extra Bed Mattresses, backs and seats make into spare bed once the table is let down…..
