~ ~ THIS TRAILER IS NOW SOLD ~ ~
Utterly darling restored 1962 Shasta Compact trailer. I bought this from the original owner a little over a year ago-had been looking for ages and this was such a stunner, had to have it. But, truth be told, we haven’t yet used it and much as I love the little camper, I just don’t think we ever will. The original owner had done extensive repairs and restoration at the time of my purchase. New axel, wheel bearings, rims and tires, flooring underlayment and flooring, about half the birch paneling replaced, rigid foam insulation installed (during the birch panel replacement), wooden framing reinforced, rewired with 4 LED light sets, new vent fan, 12V battery, new 9 gallon poly water tank, extra insulation added around the original icebox, new wiring and lights, curtains and cushions. The exterior restoration included removing, cleaning and resealing rails, resealing roof seam (no leaks!!), windows removed and resealed, and the entire camper repainted. The exterior skins do have some minor divots and dents, but the trailer has always been well painted and waxed, and these are cosmetic in nature only. This trailer weighs about 1300 pounds so a fairly easy tow. There are Coleman style gas lanterns inside in addition to the LED lights, a three burner stove, original icebox (works amazingly well), plug in for both electric and water, and a really efficient new vent fan. There are ‘slide-outs’ at each of the bench seats that join to make a bed, and a canvas pole set up to create a ‘bunk’ above. A large (relatively!) closet has shelves for storage, or could be converted to a tiny bathroom if someone preferred. Windows work well. This is a very beautiful, sweet, soulful, original true birch interior trailer that has been loved and exceptionally well cared for (original owner’s parents honeymooned in it, and this was the family camper all his childhood). Am not in a hurry to sell (not easy to let go), firm on price, and ask for only serious inquiries please. Thank you!!
